Who We Are
We are Nebraska’s First Responders: The Nebraska Professional Fire Fighters Association is the AFL-CIO affiliated labor association representing more than 1,300 professional fire fighters and emergency medical personnel in Nebraska. Our goal is to ensure Fire Fighter Safety, provided we also deal with wages and benefits for all our members. Specific duties include the following:
- Advise or represent locals in contract negotiations, arbitration, or presentation before local governmental leaders.
- Work in cooperation with our IAFF district vice president to organize new IAFF affiliates within the State.
- Work in conjunction with the IAFF to deliver educational seminars on local union administration, grievances, contract negotiations, and Health and Safety classes.
- Work to ensure Local, State, and Federal political leaders are informed and educated with our Fire Fighter safety in mind. We provide non-partisan support for those candidates who support us, whether they are Republican, Democrat, or Independent.

Local 644 Training Seminar
This lecture program will provide company officers, command officers, and firefighters with the necessary “RPDM” (Recognition-Primed Decision Model) skills to quickly establish a tactical and strategic plan with positive outcomes. The course will highlight command concepts that are based upon building profiles, rescue profiles and proper tactical considerations for each circumstance based upon today’s fireground, not yesterday’s urban myths about firefighting. Officers will develop an “Incident Assignment Plan” using “Mission Focused Principles.” Too many company and command officers of today buy into theoretical tactics rather than making sound fundamental decisions based upon the reality-based facts of what the incident has given them. This course will expose the danger of using theory in a world of reality. Course will include multiple “Real World” simulation exercises.
